Director Beatrix Ruf has decided to resign from her post as director of the Stedelijk Museum with immediate effect. Following speculations in the media over the past weeks that may have an impact on the Stedelijk’s reputation, Ruf feels that her resignation is in the best interests of the museum.

The current Stedelijk Management Team, in conjunction with an interim business director to be appointed shortly, will be tasked with the business aspects of Beatrix Ruf’s directorate.


From the 1st of November, Artis will have a new director.

Last Monday, Haig Balian has announced that he will be quitting his job as the zoo director. Balian will focus on the new Artis-Grand Museum, which is being renovated since April this year. He will be replaced by Rembrandt Sutorius, a former manager at the strategic consultancy agency McKinsey.


Björn Stenvers has been appointed as Executive Director of the ICOM Endowment Fund. Stenvers has been director of the Amsterdam Museums Foundation since 2013.


Steph Scholten is appointed as a General Director of the prestigious Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery of Glasgow University, Scotland, one of Europe's leading university museums. Today we have launched the 2017 edition of the Amsterdam Museum Maps. In a very handy format, the map provides descriptions to 48 Amsterdam museums, including contact information and opening times. Made especially for children, there is also a kids' version of the map.

Today the Foundation of Amsterdam Museums has launched the second edition of the Amsterdam Museum Monitor. The publication gives an overview on the current state of affairs surrounding the Amsterdam museums and provides insights into opportunities for cooperation in the sector.
